High Modulus congratulates New Zealander, Karl Purdie, on winning the OK Dinghy World Championship last week in Warnemünde, Germany. High Modulus worked with C-Tech and Performance Composites to ensure that this was a championship-winning boat from the outset.

C-Tech supplied the masts for six of the top ten OK Dinghies in the World Championship, and five of the competing hulls were built by Performance Composites. High Modulus used its expertise and experience of composites to provide B3 SmartPac solutions to both companies, with whom it worked closely in the lead up to the event.

This solution enabled C-Tech to reduce man hours, waste levels and make performance gains.˝We have improved the performance of the masts dramatically since we moved from an intermediate to a high modulus carbon fibre.˝says Alex Vallings, owner of C-Tech. ˝The main performance advantage of the pre-cut carbon is that all of our masts have highly accurate curvature and bend characteristics, which manual cutting doesn’t always guarantee.˝

High Modulus supplied foam core B3 SmartPacs for the hulls and decks of the dinghies.˝By using the B3 SmartPac we achieved a much more efficient build process and benefited from a high quality product due to the consistency and accuracy provided by pre-cut materials.˝says Chris Brown, owner of Performance Composites.
