The Humphrey's 37m is an extraordinary vessel, designed to withstand twice the load at half the weight of a conventional high speed motoryacht! She will have a top speed in excess of 60 knots, an extended ocean crossing range and a design acceleration of 2.2g. High Modulus's brief was therefore to engineer a boat that combined immense strength with light weight. The team, which included Humphreys Yacht Design, builders McMullen & Wing, and High Modulus, opted for a female moulded vaccum infused, carbon fibre/epoxy/foam structure to meet the required objectives. Part of the specification process included a mechanical testing programme, under the supervision of Germanischer Lloyds surveyors. This included impact tests as well as beam tests to measure the bending strength and stiffness values. She is due to be launched in 2007.
